FELTON, CA, May 24, 1995
CrossWind Technologies, Inc. today announced the immediate availability
of a new portable version of its Synchronize enterprise scheduling and
task management software. Synchronize for Mobile Computing is available
at no charge to existing Synchronize customers and is included at no
additional charge with all new Synchronize licenses.
"Synchronize for Mobile Computing enables our customers to take their familiar scheduling and task management tool on the road," said David Wellington, President of CrossWind Technologies. "Synchronize for Mobile Computing is different from most mobile scheduling software because Synchronize employs the same algorithms and code base across the mobile and networked versions. As a result, the synchronization of enterprise-wide schedule, task and resource data is very straightforward."
Synchronize's mobile client/server architecture enables today's mobile managers to stay connected and productive even when they're on the road. Before a Synchronize user's portable computer is unplugged from the network, that user's scheduling information is copied to the portable computer's hard disk.
While disconnected, the user can continue to use Synchronize to schedule other users for meetings, respond to shared notes, and assign personal and workgroup tasks. Once the portable computer is reconnected to the network - either from the road or back at the office -- Synchronize both automatically merges the user's data into the main database and exchanges any new or updated information that occurred while the portable computer was offline.
Synchronize is a powerful scheduling and task management tool designed for personal as well as enterprise-wide use. Synchronize boosts enterprise productivity by leveraging existing staff and resources. Synchronize is used today in leading enterprises around the world, including Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, U.S. defense intelligence agencies, and Wall Street firms. Synchronize was recently chosen as the scheduling and task management software for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) workgroup automation project, which relies on Synchronize as a key component in a geographic information system for 30,000 Forest Service employees in 795 locations.
Synchronize was designed to offer a scalable, platform-independent scheduling solution specifically designed to support thousands of people and resources across enterprise LANs and WANs. Synchronize communicates directly across the TCP/IP network to provide fast response time and straightforward networking. Unlike most peer-to-peer or store-and-forward groupware applications which suffer from latency delays, Synchronize works at network transport speeds to provide real-time scheduling, task and resource management.
Synchronize incorporates a host of features designed for enterprise and personal productivity, including the ability to schedule meetings and resources, distribute agendas and memos, assign and track tasks, andissue reminders. Synchronize offers each user private and group daily, weekly and monthly calendar views, shared notes, and automatically updated task lists. Other key features include the ability for individual users to customize their environment and the ability to customize system-wide resource management.
Because Synchronize adheres strictly to standards, typical porting times of less then half a day enable CrossWind to support the widest variety of server platforms. Synchronize provides server capabilities for Windows NT for x86-based computers and all popular UNIX platforms as well as client capabilities for Microsoft Windows and Windows NT desktops, X Windows/Motif, and ASCII. Synchronize can be installed in a matter of a few minutes.
Synchronize retails for $100.00 per user.
